Death, and Life
Jan. 8th, 2016 04:51 pmDeath is coming for you, yes you
We are all going to die someday, and you should be ready for that.
It is an uncomfortable topic to discuss with your parents, your significant others, your children - but don't you want to make sure you know their wishes? You never know when you, or they, will end up in an emergency. Wouldn't you like to know if they are do not intubate? do not resuscitate?
Put together a will, a living will, your wishes - and share them.
Ask your significant other, parents, etc the same.
A good thing to read - http://www.orderofthegooddeath.com/
I know my mother wants to be cremated, she wants Frank Sinatra's my way played at the funeral. there is required to be good food and drink. She is an organ donor, she has a will.
I have told everyone I am an organ donor, I have a living will (DNR), I want my body donated to science then cremated. (Science needs bodies! please consider donating). I have a will.
In addition, hopefully preparing to die will remind you that you are still alive.
What friends and family have you not seen recently? Why not?
What things have you always wanted to do - why aren't you working toward traveling there or learning that skill?
Have you told the people that have impacted you positively that they did?
Start NOW, start working toward the trip you want to take, the skill you want to learn, the career you want, whatever it is, start making it happen step by step.
Plan a trip, a lunch, whatever to see the friends and family who matter to you. I try to visit my friends every 2-3 years.
There is not always tomorrow.
