Political Education
Oct. 20th, 2014 11:38 pmSo two friends I visited last week lamented similar issues:
lack of data about political candidates
lack of central information about candidates
lack of easy to access voting history for incumbents
poor voter education
one referenced item: study where group went out, asked people what party do you vote for? do you support X? do you believe in Y? and many people did NOT believe what the party they voted for did.
So, Question, does there exist a central website that provides information about voting history of incumbent and statements from others about major issues? you can visit NRA, ACLU, Planned Parenthood etc etc and try and dig up (if your county is tech savvy) voting records (or FOIA) but has it been done already?
if not, would this work as a semi open source project with admins per county (vetted)?
finally if this data were curated and made available (as volunteers found) what would you do with it to educate voters?
i was think OKC style Q&A to give you a % match with each candidate on the ballot.
thoughts?
