Mar. 7th, 2013 07:36 pmI lived with my grandparents when I was little, 3?4? for a while, off and on also with my aunt donna
Then Mom and Dad got house in collegeville and i loved with them
then i moved back in my my grandparents for high school
then i went to college
then i lived with my grandparents after school when i worked at aramark for a while
then an apartment with noah
then an apartment with james
then back with my grandparents
then texas
then virginia
I think i may have lived more with my grandparents than my parents over the years
poppy used to sit in the car when my grandmother ran in to get things at the store and tell me stories
he always had a candy treat for me when he came back from somewhere, when i came over
he stole tea from places he visited (hotels) and brought it back for me because i liked tea
he always made sure i got my car checked when it needed it, he worked as a mechanic for a bit, and washed my car for me often because i never did
he collected grandfather clocks, i can still sing their chimes, the house was never quiet, you learned to not hear it, he wound them by hand all the time.
Poppy gave me leftover punch cards from work, as notecards - he did security for a company that had a computer and used to scream about me wearing stockings when using my home desktop
perhaps that influenced me, my grandmom had a computer since the age computers had only large floppy disks and were slow, and he had punchcards and stories
they took me from my mother when i screamed and screamed non stop as a child and she couldn't take it
he read with me and to me
he always went to the park with me
he took me to colonial willamsburg and wandered around with me while i was in costume
this proper man who would not camp went to the ren faire with me and ate finger food, with a spork provided by james, but he went
he wandered around places we adventured to, arizona, new mexico, florida, california, he told me stories, and history, and listened
We took long walks, and talked and talked, and picked up pinecones
he always asked about my babies
it's hard to believe he isn't here anymore
