Canadian Citizenship application

I approached it probably the wrong way around

I wish I had found this reddit post first!
https://www.reddit.com/r/ImmigrationCanada/comments/1f8fx9w/canadian_citizenship_step_by_step_process_the/

I hit my required number of days in canada as a permanent resident

I then half heartedly read and listened to the discover canada study guide (official material) I also was under the mistaken impression it was faster. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/discover-canada.html

Finally I got serious and started listening while reading while taking notes after becoming unemployed because I had the time and it would be good if i could become a US resident again without losing my ability to return to canada as often as I want or need to, and with the potential to easily return and work in canada in the future.

Only got through part of it before I decided to confirm I understood the process steps. Low and behold more complicated and lengthy than I first realized, quick pivot.

I went looking to sign in or create an account

note you have to make a new account

I found so many pages referencing it but not linking, or havign not working links

finally i found https://citapply-citdemande.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/landing and  https://citapply-citdemande.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/sign-in who knows how long that will work.

Created an account and started the application process, got halted by needing to update my travel list/documentation I keep (as required as PR), it was hell to do on my PR renewal (which i think I failed to document? apologies) and it was once again hell, finally finished that, and then input it into their system.

Had to also get a college transcript, a photo done professionally, I think that was it? the rest was photos of my current and prior passport, drivers license, PR card etc.

Then I had to pay a fee, nearly 600$ i believe

I got confirmation of submission, but that is NOT official AOR confirmation (that they have all they need).

That is next, and then hopefully test invite. the entire process after AOR may take 13+ months :(

Although someone I taked to on oct 24 at lunchclub said a coworker took 9 months?

now back to studying and taking notes then typing up notes then practice exams
